User Roles Explained

Passport Account Types

On MyDirectPlan, there are a variety of different user types, and in this article, we are going to cover what each user type is for, and their responsibility when it comes to managing Passport funding.

When registering for a MyDirectPlan account with Passport funding, you can create your account as either a Recipient account or a Person Managing Funds account.

Person Managing Funds 1 – If you select the account type Person Managing Funds, you will be required to create a Person Managing Funds profile. The Person Managing Funds is the person who manages and administers the funding on behalf of a Recipient. This is often a family member or caregiver of the Recipient. This user can access the account with their password and email address. They can perform the same actions as a Recipient, including updating profiles, adding and submitting expenses, reviewing invoices, and managing the budget plan.
The information entered when creating this profile will be cross-referenced with the information you have provided to your Passport Agency. If your Person Managing Funds profile shows up as unverified, please contact your Passport Agency for assistance.

Person Managing Funds 2 – The Person Managing Funds 2 is an optional profile. This user has the same functionalities as the Person Managing Funds 1, however, they will log in with a different password and email address.
The Person Managing Funds 2 must be invited once per Recipient.
Again, this information is cross-referenced and if the Person Managing Funds 2 shows as unverified, please contact your Passport Agency for assistance.

Payee – Passport recipients are required to fill out a profile for the Payee. The Payee is the person who is reimbursed for the Passport claims submitted. This could be the Recipient, the Person Managing Funds, or someone else. They do not have a login, so there is no way for a Payee to login to MyDirectPlan. They cannot manage the budget or do any actions of a Recipient or Person Managing Funds account.
The information entered when creating this profile will be cross-referenced with the information you have provided to your Passport Agency.

Recipient – The Recipient is the individual for whom funds have been approved for by the Ministry of Children, Community, and Social Services. The Recipient profile is a required portion in creating your Passport account, even when selecting the optional Person Managing Funds account type.
If you select a Recipient profile when creating your account, you will not be required to make a Person Managing Funds profile.
This user can access the account with their password and email address. They can perform the same actions as a Person Managing Funds 1 & 2, including updating profiles, adding and submitting expenses, reviewing invoices, and managing the budget plan.

Support Worker Accounts – A MyDirectPlan account may have multiple worker accounts associated with it. These accounts allow your workers to verify the days worked, hours, and rate/total amount of the expenses being claimed for Passport Funding.
Workers do not have access to your personal profile or any budget information.

Inheritor – The Account Inheritor is an optional profile. The account inheritor does NOT inherit the funds associated with the account. Rather, they can only manage your MyDirectPlan account. The Account Inheritor profile remains inactive until the Person Managing Funds 1 can no longer manage the account.
To activate the Account Inheritor, please contact MyDirectPlan support directly. Contact details can be found at the bottom of this article.
